Thousands of volunteers mobilize for humanitarian mission from Tunisia to Rafah

A large convoy of volunteers is departing from Tunisia to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and demand an end to the Israeli blockade.

AhlulBayt News Agency: A large convoy of volunteers is set to depart from Tunisia on Monday, heading toward the Rafah border crossing to demand an end to the Israeli blockade, deliver humanitarian aid, and show solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza.

The Coordinating Committee for Joint Action for Palestine in Tunisia announced that the Maghreb land convoy, consisting of thousands of volunteers, will leave from Tunis, Sousse, Sfax, and Gabès, traveling south to Ben Gardane before continuing through Libya and Egypt toward Gaza.

The committee stated that participants will first reach the Ras Jedir border crossing between Tunisia and Libya, then travel along the Libyan coastal road to Cairo, and finally arrive at the Rafah crossing on the Egyptian-Palestinian border to deliver aid and messages of support.

The convoy includes union leaders, political figures, human rights activists, lawyers, doctors, journalists, and youth organization members.

The committee has published the departure schedule for Tunis and other major Tunisian cities, detailing meeting points and the planned route through these locations.

On May 31, Wael Nawar, spokesperson for the “Caravan of Steadfastness,” confirmed that thousands of people from Tunisia and other Maghreb countries had joined the convoy.

Nawar stated that delegations from Mauritania, Morocco, and Algeria, along with thousands from Tunisia and Libya, will travel directly to Cairo, then to Al-Arish in Egypt, and finally to Rafah in southern Gaza.

As of May 30, more than 7,000 individuals from various Maghreb nationalities had registered to participate in the convoy.

Several Tunisian organizations have pledged their support, including the Tunisian General Labor Union, the Tunisian Journalists Syndicate, the National Bar Association of Tunisia, the Tunisian League for the Defense of Human Rights, the Tunisian Forum for Economic and Social Rights, the Tunisian Medical Council, and the Tunisian Organization of Young Doctors.
